All it took was one phone call and my life changed forever. I left Alpine Peak twelve years ago with no intentions on coming back. The plan was to pay my respects to my father, mend my relationship with my mother and get back to the city. I never expected to reconnect with the boy I used to baby sit as a teenager, run into my crazy ex-boyfriend and find the person who killed my father in a hit and run accident. I had no idea that the worst night of my life would lead to me never wanting to leave.

It was just another normal day until she walked past me on the street. My childhood crush. I hadn’t thought of her in at least a decade. One interaction with her and I couldn’t focus on anything else. She was the perfect escape from reality. Not even the downward spiral my brother was on could distract me from getting closer to her.
